Annie van Brakel was born in Gameren. At the age of eight years her mother died, leaving Annie in a rebellious period. She became unmanageable and was thrown on the street by her father. She ended up in prostitution. After several abuses she quit her job as a prostitute in 1982. She had a house and a job but also many bad relationships. A thread in her life. Her friend stole her possessions, leaving her penniless with her two sons. For years Annie lived on the streets but since recently she got some control over her life. Today she lives in her own small house and works as a volunteer in the Blokkendoos, a social project for reintegration.
