Marielle van Uitert (1973) documentary photographer, graduated from the Dutch School for Photography Amsterdam and Boxtel. Van Uitert made both a wide range of features in Afghanistan, embedded as unembedded, as in Iraq, West Bank, Rwanda, Russia, Africa etc. Her book ‘Bye Bye Bullshit, 29868 minutes with the last Dutch patrols in Afghanistan 2010’ was published in 2011. In 2010 she was second prize winner overall for the United Nations Development Programme in New York featuring the picture ‘Liquid Gold’which she made in the Central African Republique for Cordaid. She is nominated for the Zilveren Camera 2011, foreign news. Van Uitert about her work: “I make many features around the world for both NGOs and private work. It is my passion to show war through small and personal stories in order to give vivacious wars, violence or poverty a personal face. The tears of an Afghan mother are the same as the tears of a Dutch mother”.

Marielle van Uitert (1973) is reportage/documentaire fotograaf, in 2008 afgestudeerd aan de Fotovakschool. Van Uitert heeft zowel diverse reportages gemaakt in Afghanistan, unembedded als embedded, als in Irak, West Bank, Rwanda, Rusland, Afrika etc. Haar boek ‘Bye Bye Bullshit, 29868 minutes with the last Dutch patrols in Afghanistan 2010’ is in 2011 gepubliceerd. In 2010 won ze de 2e prijs van het United Nations Development Programme in New York met de foto ‘Liquid Gold’, gemaakt in de Centraal Afrikaanse Republiek iov Cordaid. Voor NGO’s maakt ze diverse features in het buitenland en daarnaast maakt ze veel vrij werk. Ze is genomineerd voor de Zilveren Camera 2011, buitenlands nieuws. Van Uitert over haar werk: “De oorlog dmv kleine persoonlijke verhalen vertellen is mijn passie teneinde grote meeslepende oorlogen of geweld en armoede een persoonlijk gezicht te geven. De tranen van een Afghaanse moeder zijn immers dezelfde als de tranen van een Nederlandse moeder”.
